Who Owns Kelleher?
Kelleher was founded by Jill Kelleher over 30 years ago. Before launching her Matchmaking company, her career was focused on photography and video editing for video dating services. Jill launched Kelleher in 1986, and her daughter, Amber Kelleher-Andrews, later stepped in as the acting co-CEO.
Amber, however, had no experience in professional Matchmaking before stepping in as the co-CEO of Kelleher; she was an actress by trade, appearing in Baywatch and Melrose Place before becoming the co-CEO in 1995.
Since Kelleher’s beginnings, the Matchmaking company is still operated and run by Jill and Amber. This mother-daughter duo still steps in to serve VIP-level clientele and host private matchmaking and coaching sessions. However, based on our research, it looks like Kelleher is currently up for sale!
How Does Kelleher Work?
Like most other Matchmaking companies, Kelleher conducts interviews before inviting anyone to become a member. That said, you’ll need to complete a profile with them before one of their reps reaches out to schedule a call. Depending on each potential client’s needs, they may conduct only one phone interview or a round of phone and video interviews.
Since revamping their Matchmaking model after scathing media articles and lawsuits, Kelleher claims to have become more strenuous during their client and match vetting process. They do require a driver’s license to complete a background check for potential members, but we cannot verify if the same rules apply to matches as well.
Once joining, each client is assigned one main Matchmaker, and 2 to 3 other supporting Matchmakers to assist in their search. The client will meet with each Matchmaker on a regular basis, and review deal-breakers, non-negotiables, and other match preferences. The one review Kelleher has on the BBB mentions feeling dissatisfied with their Matchmaking service, mentioning that their matches did not meet the customer’s expectations and that they felt their membership was too costly for the level of service they received.

Kelleher Complaints and Lawsuits
Kelleher International is no stranger to controversy, complaints, lawsuits, and even serious sexual assault allegations. As of 2025, they have dealt with one major lawsuit and an extremely disturbing allegation, both of which severely damaged their industry reputation and public trust.
In 2017, Kelleher settled with an ex-QVC executive, Darlene Daggett, who stated that she had paid over $150,000 for incredibly incompatible matches, including men who were outright unsuitable for anyone to date.
According to the complaint, “Kelleher’s ‘highly screened’ matches for Daggett included men who were married, mentally unstable, physically ill, pathological liars, serial Lotharios, stalkers, convicted felons, and men unwilling or unable to travel and/or the subject of professional sanctions.” In response, Amber Kelleher-Andrews told media outlets that, “It doesn’t always work out.”
Kelleher’s other main allegation, surfacing in 2009, details an extremely violent sexual assault case and cover-up scheme. Kelley Gast joined Kelleher International with the intention of finding true love and was unfortunately the victim of one of her matches.
After the assault, Jill ignored Gast for days and provided no grief and trauma counseling. Gast also alleges that they attempted to cover up the assault by deleting reviews and intimidating her to remove any information about the attack online. This allegation has not been cleared and remains a lasting stain on Kelleher’s reputation.
Is Kelleher Legit or a Scam?
Assessing Kelleher’s overall brand reputation, Matchmaking credibility, complaints and lawsuits, and client reviews and testimonials, it’s difficult to say whether Kelleher is legitimate or a scam. Although they boast many positive reviews on their own website, they have little to no presence on many other major, trusted review sites.
The harrowing account of sexual assault their lack of responsibility to their client, and their other major lawsuit, all severely damaging their Matchmaking reputation and overall trustworthiness. Unfortunately, Kelleher fails to list their pricing options on their website, making it difficult to determine the range for their Matchmaking services. However, based on our research, the price of their services largely depends on the search radius for matches.
A basic, local search starts at around $30,000 and scales upwards from there. Their national search is about $45,000, and their international search option ranges between $150,000 to $300,000. Their Matchmaking contracts vary in length and can last anywhere between 1 to 3 years total.
Kelleher’s Matchmaking membership operates similarly to LUMA’s, in that it is not based upon a pay-for-matches system. Each client joins for a set membership length and receives an unlimited amount of matches within that time frame.
As mentioned above, they recently rebranded, and now assigns up to 4 Matchmakers for each client. However, they do not plan dates for their clients and do not conduct in-depth personality assessments for clients and their respective matches.

Kelleher claims to have an 89% success rate, however, it remains unclear how they make that determination. They also claim to be awarded the #1 Global Matchmaking Service year after year, yet we cannot verify any sources that awarded that title to Kelleher. We can verify that they use real testimonials of clients on their website, but have no way to confirm their other metrics and claims.
Is Kelleher Worth It?
