Three Day Rule Reviews 2025: Pros, Cons, and Cost

Another day, another new Matchmaking company. In the past ten years, there has been a significant increase in the amount of dating services, apps, and Matchmakers. It’s no surprise as to why: Americans are burnt out of the dating scene and more people are looking for new, innovative solutions to find lasting love.

Each new Matchmaking and dating service makes big promises to their clients, but can they deliver? The hard truth is no, not all of them can. Less established firms simply don’t have the staff, resources, or database of singles necessary to serve clients from diverse backgrounds, and many so-called “dating gurus” have no educational background to support their assertions.

As a trusted, established Matchmaking firm, LUMA has been taking the time to review some of the biggest players in the industry as part of our mission to help every single find the love they deserve. We deeply understand this industry and know what to look for in a reputable Matchmaker.

If you’ve been considering Matchmaking services, you’ve likely come across Three Day Rule, one of the leading firms in the US. But how do they stack up in terms of cost, client reviews, and quality of service? We’ll give you the latest information in Three Day Rule reviews 2025, pricing structure, and more!

What is Three Day Rule?

Founded in 2010, Three Day Rule is a premium Matchmaking service that aims to help singles find love with the support of a dedicated Matchmaker. They currently operate in 11 major cities across the US and are headquartered in LA. Their Matchmaking services have garnered a reputation in the industry for being personalized, and they have a unique approach to finding matches for their clients.

Like most established Matchmaking companies, Three Day Rule has a free database of singles to find match candidates in, but their Matchmakers also headhunt via personal networks and even dating apps. Their broad reach supposedly allows their Matchmakers to curate more diversity in potential matches for each client.

Three Day Rule also offers bonus perks with their Matchmaking membership. They include a photoshoot and two sessions of date coaching with any level of membership, and clients can purchase more coaching sessions for an additional fee.

Who Owns Three Day Rule?

Three Day Rule certainly had an interesting start. Their founder and acting President, Talia Goldstein, started as a TV producer for E! Entertainment. She eventually left that role and decided to host events for singles. As more people showed up to her date parties, she decided to take her dating services to the next level.

Their company name comes from the unpopular “three-day rule” for dates, where you aren’t supposed to contact someone until three days after your date to seem desirable and busy. Although this theory is now widely considered antiquated and counterproductive, Talia eventually settled on using that as the name for her dating service.

In 2010, Talia launched Three Day Rule to provide a better dating experience for singles burnt out of dating apps. She appeared on Shark Tank in 2013 in an attempt to acquire more investments, however, she walked away empty-handed after all 5 investors denied her.

But that wasn’t the end of Talia’s story: she claims that Three Day Rule saw a significant increase in membership with over 10,000 people signing up for her service the night that it aired.

How Does Three Day Rule Work?

Unfortunately, there’s not a ton of information about Three Day Rule’s approach to Matchmaking. Their website gives vague details, however, it’s apparent that the details of their service are only revealed during sales calls. We’ll go ahead and share what little information we were able to gather.

Like most Matchmakers, Three Day Rule offers a paid client-level membership and a free database option. Both potential clients and database candidates first complete an application form and are then scheduled for a consultation with a Matchmaker. During the interview, the Matchmaker will ask questions about relationship goals, deal-breakers, and non-negotiables.

The Matchmaker will either extend a client membership offer or a free database offer. For free members, your profile is added to the database, where you could be considered as a potential match for paying clients. If you instead become a paying client, the Matchmaker will start curating a personalized search for potential matches.

One major difference between Three Day Rule and other firms is that their matchmakers don’t solely rely on their database or paying client pool to find matches. The Matchmakers also act as recruiters and scout for matches anywhere they can. However, this aspect of their service has caused controversy as many paying members worry about the safety of their information and the quality of their matches.

Three Day Rule also has a feedback process after each date, where both the client and their match will separately meet with the Matchmaker to share how the date went, what they liked, and what they didn’t.

Three Day Rule Reviews on TrustAnalytica

The Three Day Rule review page on TrustAnalytica is admittedly only for their LA office. They currently have a 3.8 out of 5-star rating with 16 total reviews, and their profile is unclaimed.

The most positive reviews talk about the quality of their Matchmaking service, feeling heard and understood by their Matchmaker, and how they were able to save time in the dating scene. The most negative reviews mention having no chemistry with their matches and call Three Day Rule “the worst experience of a lifetime”.

Three Day Rule Reviews on Reddit

Overall, Three Day Rule has mixed reviews on Reddit. In general, most of the positive comments come from free database members who passively receive dates with paying clients when they are compatible.

Most negative reviews on Reddit talk about how they “destroyed their confidence” and felt that each of their matches was pressured to go on dates with the client and that the services weren’t worth the price.

Three Day Rule Reviews on BBB

Three Day Rule has a decent rating on the BBB, with 3.69 out of 5 stars and 13 customer reviews. They are an accredited business with an A- total rating by the BBB.

The most positive reviews mention that they felt their Matchmaker went above and beyond to provide a high-caliber service, and that they were happy with their matches. The most negative reviews discuss how their matches weren’t what they were looking for, and that their Matchmaker disregarded their concerns about the quality of service.

Three Day Rule Reviews on Buzzfeed

In 2015, Buzzfeed wrote an informational piece on Three Day Rule’s Matchmaking services. Apparently, Buzzfeed was approached by Three Day Rule for a full Matchmaking experience in return for an article. Two Buzzfeed employees were assigned a Matchmaker, and both had similar takeaways about their service.

In the article, both Buzzfeed representatives state that the Matchmaking process wasn’t transparent and that it felt strained and hurried. They also agree that some of their matches had qualities that the writers had listed as deal-breakers.

Three Day Rule Reviews on Trustpilot

Currently, Three Day Rule has a 2.9 rating on Trustpilot, and there are only 2 reviews. However, both reviewers rated their services as 1-star, so we’re unsure how their total rating was determined.

The latest review calls Three Day Rule “scam artists, liars, and charlatans”. The second review provides more detail on their client experience. They state that they were defrauded and Three Day Rule failed to meet the terms of the membership.

Three Day Rule Reviews on Yelp

Three Day Rule currently has a 4.3 out of 5-star rating on Yelp with nearly 300 total reviews. They have also claimed their Yelp page and have a 100% response rate for inquiries.

The most positive reviews talk about how supported they were by their Matchmaker, trusting the match vetting process, and how much time they saved using their dating services. The most negative reviews claim their process is “messy, inconsistent and disrespectful”, and how they treat clients poorly.

Three Day Rule Complaints and Lawsuits

Three Day Rule has managed to avoid any major lawsuits as of 2025, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t dealt with numerous complaints. They currently have 10 complaints listed on the BBB, and 9 of them have been resolved.

Their most recent complaint mainly concerns customer experience. According to their client, they were frequently unable to reach their Matchmaker and overall felt disregarded and ignored. The client also didn’t connect with any of their matches, and felt the Matchmaking process, in general, was rushed and poorly thought out.

Three Day Rule did respond, and asserted that they delivered the quality of service outlined in the client contract, but they did offer the client another Matchmaker, dating coaching sessions, and another match for free. The client agreed with this resolution.

Their oldest complaint talks about the amazing success they had with Three Day Rule’s date coaching service, but they also shared how much they disliked the Matchmaking aspect of their membership. The client claims that their matches were not at all what they envisioned, and many of their matches actually had qualities the client had listed as deal-breakers.

Three Day Rule replied to the complaint, and said that they gave the client 4 extra matches as a resolution. However, the original complaint remains “answered” only on the BBB and has not been resolved.

Is Three Day Rule Legit or a Scam?

Based on their client reviews and complaints, reputation in the industry, and website information, Three Day Rule is a legit Matchmaking and dating service. Overall, they boast average ratings and reviews and haven’t dealt with any major lawsuits, which is more than many Matchmakers in the industry can say.

Our one point of contention about Three Day Rule is the lack of information provided on their website. As they don’t really have their pricing structure or success rate listed, it’s very difficult to make an accurate analysis on the caliber of their Matchmaking services, and if they are worth the price.

Success rates are arguably one of the most important metrics for any Matchmaker to determine, and in all honesty, their lack of transparency makes us wonder how much they care about client success. But again, because we don’t have accurate data about their Matchmaking services, we can only assume.

Three Day Rule Cost

Unfortunately, Three Day Rule doesn’t list much information about pricing on their official website. We were able to find out more about their membership cost via client reviews.

Three Day Rule appears to be a pay-for-matches system, meaning that clients pay for a set number of matches instead of the length of membership. Their entry-level membership option is $5,900 and includes 3 guaranteed matches over the course of 3 months.

Their second membership tier is $9,500 and includes 6 matches at a minimum during a 6-month period. Finally, they have a VIP-level membership option which starts at $19,500 for 6 months of matches. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find information on how many matches are included with their VIP membership.

Three Day Rule Success Rate

Again, the Three Day Rule website leaves more questions than answers. Unfortunately, we found no mention of any success rates on their website or any other trusted source. We can speculate based on their reviews and complaints, but we honestly can’t estimate specific statistics on how many of their clients find relationships through their services.

I would like to point out that this is the first Matchmaking company I have reviewed that does not include any mention of success metrics on their website. Showing real success rates is so important to build trust with your clients and in the Matchmaking industry, and it’s concerning that Three Day Rule has not taken the time to research and prove if their model works or not.

Is Three Day Rule Worth it?

Whether Three Day Rule is your best option entirely depends on what you’re looking for from a Matchmaking service. Three Day Rule does have good reviews overall, and most of their complaints have been resolved, all of which help to build their trust with clients and in the Matchmaking industry.

If you currently live in one of the 11 cities that Three Day Rule serves, have a medium-range budget to work with, and date coaching is a non-negotiable for you, their services could be exactly what you’re looking for. Based on the information we could find, it seems like they have high-caliber date coaching services that many clients benefit from, and their pricing structure is middle of the road compared to other services.

That said, if you live in a more rural area and don’t want to do a long-distance relationship, are working with a larger budget, and are concerned about joining a service that does not list success rates, Three Day Rule probably shouldn’t be your first choice. They currently do not serve rural communities and are not transparent about their membership.

Conclusion

Three Day Rule provides a personalized Matchmaking service in select cities across the U.S, and mainly caters to singles looking for long-term, committed relationships. They are known for their hands-on approach and membership perks like date coaching. However, we still have some concerns about their lack of transparency about client success rates and pricing structure.

If you’re in a city where Three Day Rule operates and are looking for a dedicated Matchmaker, their services are worth considering. That said, for anyone who values proven success metrics or lives in rural areas, other options may be a better choice.
